A hardware wallet like TreZor® keeps your private keys offline, away from malware and phishing attempts. This short guide walks you through unboxing, initializing, and using your device safely. Follow each step carefully — security is cumulative: small mistakes add up, while correct habits protect your funds.
Prepare a clean workstation, a charged device, and your recovery backup area. Never share your recovery seed with anyone, and avoid typing it into a computer or phone. If you received the package sealed, confirm the seal and packaging are intact before proceeding.
Unbox your TreZor and connect it to your computer with the supplied USB cable. Your TreZor will display an initial welcome screen and prompt to visit trezor.io/start to begin the official setup.
Tip: Only use the official site (trezor.io/start) for firmware and software downloads — copy/paste the address into your browser to avoid typosquatting.
Open your browser to the official start page and download TreZor Suite, the companion app that helps manage coins, firmware updates, and device settings. Install the app, then open it and follow the on-screen instructions to pair your device.
During initialization, TreZor will offer to create a new wallet (generate a new recovery seed) or recover an existing one with your 12/24-word seed. If creating new, write your seed on the provided recovery card and store it in a secure location.
Never photograph or store the seed digitally. If you must use a third-party backup, choose an encrypted, offline method and understand the trade-offs.
Choose a PIN on the device — this protects the device from local access. Optionally, enable a passphrase for additional security. A passphrase functions as an extra word added to your seed; losing it can make funds irrecoverable, so store it carefully if used.
After setup, use TreZor Suite to view balances, receive and send transactions, and manage accounts. Always verify addresses on the device screen before confirming transactions — the device shows the exact address you're sending to and protects against malware that may alter addresses on your computer.
Q: What if I lose my device?
A: Use your recovery seed to restore on a new TreZor or compatible wallet. Your funds remain safe as long as the seed is secret.
Q: Can TreZor be hacked remotely?
A: Private keys never leave the device; remote compromise requires physical access or your seed to be exposed.
